Synopsis: A story spanning more than 70 years, Celluloid portrays the life and times of Dr J.C. Daniel, who in 1928 made the first Malayalam motion picture, Vigathakuman. Celluloid shows the unprecedented hardships to achieve this feat and the tragedy that followed.  Upon its releasefanatics banned the film from being shown in Capitol Cinema Hall and it would only be after his death that Dr. J.C. Daniel was recognized as the pioneer of Malayalam Cinema.
