Synopsis: Grandpa Was Here highlights Don, his Ivorian-Canadian family and their journey accepting his sexuality. After the sudden death of Don's grandfather in Côte D'Ivoire, his family holds a special lunch commemorating the death. Between keeping things traditional for the sake of the Grandfather versus the clear division between the 1st and 2nd generation, the family struggles with accepting that they are getting further and further from their initial ideals.

Director’s Bio: Her directing and cinematography work has premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (2013), National Screen Institute's Film Festival, Regent Park Film Festival, and many others. Lekeeya is also the co-founder of Lovely Blues, an independent film production company. Lekeeya created the company to dedicate a platform for the female voice, women of colour, and the telling of unconventional stories.
