WGC Writer (Cardinal - CTV)

MODERATOR: Aaron Bala

Aaron Bala is a Toronto based Screenwriter. He has written for the TV Shows 19-2 (Bravo), SAVING HOPE (CTV), CARDINAL (CTV), and is currently  a writer on PRIVATE EYES (Global). He graduated with a degree in Criminology from the University of Toronto and a diploma from the Humber Television Writing and Production program. He is also the winner of the 2014 Bell Media Diverse Screenwriter Program East and a member of Mensa.

Sohrab Merchant

Sohrab Merchant has a passion for helping writers and other creatives build and grow their careers. After completing his undergrad at University of Toronto, he took a post-grad at Humber College where he discovered his love of the entertainment industry. He started at The Characters 7 years ago as an intern and quickly was offered a position as an assistant. He now represents writers, directors and other key creatives in both Canada and the United States.

Vivian Lin

Vivian Lin is a Toronto writer and director. She is currently writing on CityTV’s Hudson and Rex. Her previous writing credits include Killjoys (SyFy/Space), Carter (WGN/Bravo), Universal Kids/DHX’s series Bajillionaires. Her short film And They Watched is part of the film anthology Fun Size Horror: Volume 2. Vivian has her Certificate of Entertainment Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, post-graduate diploma from Sheridan Advanced Film and Television and was a participant of the Bell Media/Writers Guild of Canada’s Diverse Screenwriters Program. She is also a partner at Midnight Print Studios, a creative playground for dorks and nerds.

WGC WRITER (Another Life - Netflix)

Alejandro Alcoba

Alejandro Alcoba has been called many things, but for some reason “Handsome Alejandro” hasn’t stuck.  Alejandro is a CSA-winning writer who has written for ANOTHER LIFE (Netflix), ENDLINGS (CBC/Hulu), UTOPIA FALLS (Hulu), HOLLY HOBBIE (Family Channel/Hulu), and THE NEXT STEP (Family Channel).  He was also a writer and supervising producer on DEGRASSI: NEXT CLASS (Netflix), and wrote THE CARMILLA MOVIE. He attended Ryerson’s RTA, NSI’s Totally TV, and WGC’s Bell Media Diverse Screenwriters Program.  He’s also on the Advisory Committee for the Toronto Screenwriting Conference, a mentor for the MageeTV Diverse Screenwriters Mentorship Award, and on the WGC’s Diversity Committee. He drinks a lot of coffee... maybe too much?
