Director:
Will Prosper
Prosper is a documentary filmmaker, activist and community organizer. A former RCMP officer, he first gained attention as the co-founder and spokesperson of Hoodstock, a grassroots social-innovation incubator. Over the past 10 years, he’s channelled his passion for social justice into films offering new perspectives on underrepresented communities and African-descendant cultures in Quebec.
Set against a backdrop of warmth and beautiful Haitian landscapes with the flavor of exile. Philanthropic Haitian-born Montrealer artist and activist Alain Philoctète returns to the country of his birth to pursue his lifelong dream, developing a permaculture project with local farmers. However, his aspiration starts to go off the rails when life shows him the bitter side. Will Prosper's documentary offers eye-catching cinematography with a splendid score composed by Jenny Salgado.
Winner of the People's Choice Award at the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM).
