Based on the award-winning short film SOS: Somnius (Grand Prize Storyhive 2017, Leo Award for Best Musical Score 2018), Somnius: Pilgrims of Centauri is a young adult, sci-fi series from director Denver Jackson. It is currently being developed as a 13-episode web series.
Reelworld Film Festival is proud to present the world premiere of the pilot episode:
Aaliyah, a young, strong-willed Centauri disciple, must reclaim her sacred ship Somnius and escape a gang of tech scavengers if she is to continue on her pilgrimage across the stars. Two orphans, Dodge and Mac, offer to help her in exchange for safe passage off world and away from the crooks, but not before getting captured themselves. Aaliyah’s not sure if she can rely on her new companions, but her hands are tied and it seems like she has no choice but to find out.
Denver has been a visual effects artist and animator for ten years. His first animated short film Cloudrise (2013) cut through the 400 hours of content uploaded every minute on Vimeo to become a prestigious Vimeo Staff Pick. Denver’s work leans heavily on the fantastical while still being grounded by real world characters and situations.
