PROGRAMMERS NOTES

Patrick Kabaya’s documentary takes a journey on recounting the first legally elected Prime Minister of the independent Democratic Republic of the Congo term in office until his assasintation in 1958. Tasked with taking a newly independent country from Belgium colonial hold as Western powers interfere in the country's governance for their own benefit, Lumumba spoke fervently in his speeches against interference and for true self-determination for the Congo.

A timely film echoing current struggles of freedom for Black life, From Patrice to Lumumba brings forth the struggle of the Congolese people through the conviction of their leader.
