PROGRAMMERS NOTES
With suicide bombers around the corners and the fears caused by the Taliban's return, journalism in war-torn Afghanistan is extremely dangerous, and Afghan reporters' lives are in the hands of destiny. It worsens for the female journalists, who do double-duty battling both the utmost dangers and the conservative, patriarchal society that continues to ignore women's abilities in the name of tradition.
Filmed from 2018 to 2020, Brishkay Ahmed portrays the daily operation of Zan (Farsi for woman) TV - Kabul's female-operated news agency - while they apprehensively cover two main events: the national elections and US-Taliban peace talks.
Now that the Afghan government has fallen amidst the astonishment of international observers, can educated Afghan women challenge the Taliban's fundamentals this time, or will they be again the main losers in Afghanistan's four-decade war?
