PROGRAMMERS NOTES

Kaveh Nabatian’s Sin La Habana is a complex love story chronicling a Cuban Ballet Dancer’s emigration to Canada. His quest for the life we all aspire to have, one of security and self actualization, is far from simple. With an intricate love triangle at the film’s centre, Nabatian offers each character’s perspective with sensitivity, and though we should dislike them for their actions, we can’t. Sin La Habana asks us to question the lengths we go to achieve our dreams, but most importantly, the film asks us to suspend our judgements and find empathy for others in the grey areas.
