Reelworld has an opportunity for two individuals who identify as Black and have a desire to become a film festival programmers. Training will be from Jan - May, Mon-Fri 35 hours a week. After the completion of the apprenticeship, there is a possibility to continue full time. We are seeking individuals who wish to be professional programmers long term.
If you are passionate about watching films, love to organize events, and connect with people in an administrative capacity, festival programming might be for you. Festival programmers balance the selection process of what gets screened at a film festival with careful consideration of audience appeal, with the goal of the films being sold to distributors and content providers. The Programmer plays a vital role in understanding the audience and is responsible for coordinating the screening of the festival.
The chosen Apprentices will learn how to pick films, organize the content for an intended audience, and develop an understanding of marketing a festival.
