Marianne Heisz joined the federal public service after obtaining her Bachelor’s of Science degree from McMaster University in Hamilton followed by her Master’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Ottawa. She has held progressively senior positions in the public service, predominantly at the Public Health Agency of Canada, where as Director in the Centre for Biosecurity, she developed and implemented Canada’s first compliance and enforcement regime under the Quarantine Act to support the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She later led the development of numerous public heath guidance documents to help Canadians manage their health during the pandemic, including masking guidance. As a highly experienced leader and public servant, Marianne joined the Canada Revenue Agency in 2024 as the Director, Research and Multimedia Tax Incentives Division where she is responsible for both the Canadian Film or Video Production tax credit program and the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax incentives program.
