Reelworld Film Festival is an Official Partner

of the Telefilm Talent to Watch Program

Congratulations to Lulu Wei and Nayani Thiyagarajah

As an official Partner of Telefilm: Talent to Watch, Reelworld Film Festival was excited to hear that both of our submitted feature applications were chosen by the prestigious program.

Filmmakers Nayani and Lulu were thrilled to find out that their hard work at the September 2017 E20 training sessions, and at the October festival Face2Face mentor meetings, polished their projects and made them strong candidates for submission. Nayani’s, “This Place” and Lulu’s “There’s No Place Like This Place, Anyplace”, will both receive Telefilm’s support including up to $125,000 in funding.

In 2017 Reelworld submitted alumna Supinder Wraich’s project, P6HUT which also received $125,000 in Telefilm funding.

Applications for 2019 Talent to Watch will open in early 2019! Check back in for guidelines and details.

Reelworld empowers artists like Lulu and Nayani by equipping them with the tools to bring their narratives from idea to screen.  We wish Lulu and Nayani the best of luck and hope in the future to welcome them back to the Festival as feature artists.

Reelworld has seen Lulu Wei grow into an accomplished and inspired filmmaker.

Her upcoming project, There’s No Place Like This Place, Anyplace, examines the ongoing battle in Toronto between old and new architecture through a critical and socially impactful lens.

Nayani Thiyagarajah consistently portrays interconnectivity in her socially impactful films.

This Place, shows the bond created by two ethnically diverse women - one Tamil, the other half Iranian - who identify with one another through similar struggles in their personal lives.
