Set in 1993, 11 year-old Scott lives in a Toronto housing project, trying to maintain some semblance of a family, with a mother that works long hours and an estranged brother who has his own problems at school. Johnny Vong delivers a grounded coming-of-age drama in his return to the Reelworld Film Festival.

Johnny Vong is a Thai-born Canadian Chinese-Vietnamese filmmaker based in Toronto and Los Angeles. Before becoming a writer/director, he worked as a unit stills photographer in the Canadian film industry for over a decade and a digital content producer for two national ballet companies. He holds an MFA in Film and Television Production from USC School of Cinematic Arts and a BFA in Integrated Media from OCAD University. His short films have screened internationally at Montreal World Film Festival, Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, Tampere Film Festival.

Owen Lee

Owen Lee is a 14-year-old actor from Toronto, Ontario. He was just 12 at the time the film was shot. His experience acting in The Lane greatly impacted his experience as an actor. Prior to starring as the lead in the film, he mostly worked on commercials.


Adam Chan

Adam is an actor from Scarborough, ON. His love for drama came in the first grade after an impromptu comedic moment during a performance of "The Paperbag Princess". He trained at the University of Toronto Drama program and currently trains at LB Acting Studios. He is also a badminton coach and guitar teacher.
