At what age did you know you wanted to work in film and television, and what led you to it?

When I was a young warthog, I had no idea there was such a thing as a career in TV and film. It wasn’t until I started writing as a college student that I realized there are actual jobs that you can have in the industry. I kept writing, writing, and writing various different forms of media until one day I started performing stand-up comedy many years later. This powerful merger of the two acts, writing and stand-up, led me to pursue a career in the industry.

What was the first film/show you saw as a child that inspired or captivated you?

Hot Shots. This inspired my comedy pursuits.

How did you get your start in the industry?

Through bombing on stage and vowing to get better. Once I did, I started a little project called The Feather News as a comedy blog on the internet. Not long after that, I joined up with two super talented comedians in Saskatoon, Shawn Cuthand and Danny Knight, who helped propel the project to new heights. We added a fourth member to the team, Muskwa Lerat, to assist us in editing the videos and one thing led to another, and now our home is on APTN Lumi as a cutting edge web series.

What made you want to create The Feather News?

I created the show because I wanted to gain a more nuanced understanding of the world. Creating a satirical news show enables me to explore themes, ideas, and beliefs that challenge me and force me to look at things from a different perspective. I also created the show because I wanted to create an artistic community where people could develop their skills and abilities.

What’s the highlight of your career so far or the thing you’re most proud of?

Seeing the creative crew expand their horizons and become better artists. I am most proud of the production team we put together at The Feather News. They are truly the best people I have ever met in my life and I give thanks every day they have been put in my life.

As an Indigenous man in this industry, how did you learn to navigate it on your own terms and forge your own path?

By finding those people that help ignite my creativity and passion for TV and film. I am definitely not here because of my own efforts but rather it was a collective endeavour that brought me here. Without the people around me, I would not have gained the skills and abilities to be where I am at.
