Take the Stage
Lucas, a Filipino-Canadian dancer, is vying for a spot on a dance team that will soon be heading to nationals. Estranged from his disapproving grandfather and alienated from his culture, Lucas pushes his body to the breaking point to master Tinikling, a physically demanding Filipino folk dance, to gain the respect of his talented but demanding dance captain. It soon becomes clear, however, that he's exchanged one complicated relationship for another.

About the Director
Kent Donguines is a Filipino-Canadian filmmaker and CEO of Aimer Films. He produced the award-winning CBC documentary This Ink Runs Deep and wrote, directed and produced Kalinga (Care). His short film Paco won the Stage 32 Short Film Contest grand prize and was licensed by Crave. A Canadian Film Centre Producers' Lab alumnus, Kent's recent documentaries include Canadian Adobo and Treasure of the Rice Terraces. He is currently developing the feature Error 404.
