About the Director

Cazhhmere Downey is a director with over 20 years of experience in formats ranging from music videos, documentaries to TV. She has directed music videos for national and international artists such as The Backstreet Boys and Kardinal Offishall. In 2018 she retired from music videos to shift her focus to TV. Her most recent works include directing episodes of hit comedy Shelved (CTV) and Murdoch Mysteries. Cazhhmere is also a dynamic storyteller, specializing in developing stories from a provocative, diverse and inclusive POV. One of her series in development, Out of Pocket was selected as one of 8 projects to participate in TIFF's 2023 Series Accelerator talent program. The docu-series Sounds Black, both written and directed by Cazhhmere premiered on the History Channel in 2025.
