Reelworld Alumni Emmanuel Kabongo's Debut Feature SWAY, Hits Theatres This Weekend

Updated: 4 hours ago

This weekend, Sway opens in Toronto theatres, led by Emmanuel Kabongo, a Reelworld 2019 Trailblazer and longtime supporter of the organization.

Sway is a Canadian thriller that explores power, pressure, and personal consequence. Emmanuel stars in and produces the film, continuing a steady trajectory as a creator who is intentional about the stories he helps bring to screen. The film has screened at several festivals and now moves into its theatrical run in Toronto.

At Reelworld, we take pride in supporting creators at all stages of their careers, and Emmanuel is part of a growing group of alumni who are building sustainable, visible careers within the Canadian screen industry. His continued engagement with Reelworld reflects the kind of community we aim to foster — one where alumni remain connected and invested in the next generation.

The release of Sway is also a reminder of the importance of independent, Black-led Canadian films reaching theatrical audiences. These releases help broaden the range of stories available to audiences and strengthen the overall screen ecosystem.

We congratulate Emmanuel on the Toronto release of Sway and encourage audiences to support the film during its theatrical run.
