Zahra Bentham is a multi-hyphenate storyteller with over 15 years of experience in film and television. A graduate of Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, she gained early recognition for her role in Guidance, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her credits include Rookie Blue, Private Eyes, Queen of the Morning Calm, White Lie, Spinning Out, Diggstown, and Madam C.J. Walker. Most recently, she appeared in Star Trek: Discovery as Commander Lorna Jemison and starred in Hulu’s How to Die Alone, winner of the 2024 Spirit Award for Best Ensemble Cast. Her feature Village Keeper premiered at TIFF to acclaim, and in 2025 she starred in Morningside, which became Canada’s highest-grossing indie film. A seven-time Canadian Screen Award nominee, Zahra was honoured this year during TIFF as a Rising Voice in Film by RBC House and TIFF at the Black Excellence Brunch. She is also the co-founder of TABIA Studios, dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices.
