reelyouth workshop

How do you build youth confidence to elevate narrative identity and effect social change?

Reelyouth Workshops give youth a medium for expression and a platform for their voices to be heard.

The Reelyouth Workshop ignites action by providing racially diverse youth access to the opportunity to spark creativity. This distinctive workshop teaches the value of self-reflection and universal empathy alongside valuable technical skills. Reelworld empowers participants to tell authentic stories and engage in cross-cultural learning.

Guided by professional artists and with mentorship by similarly racialized Industry Leaders, participants engage in varied arts-based learning and develop complete creations. Their works contribute to the ongoing dialogue in spaces of education, health, environment and social change. Reelworld and the creative process inclusively receives all individuals, enhancing the accessibility opportunities for promising youth.

'seriously'(2018)- a short film by reelyouth

'Seriously' is a short comedic film produced at the 2018 Reelyouth workshops by a passionate, creative team of youth aged 12-18 years old.

This year's workshops were led by Shonna Foster, with support from professional cinematographer Jordan Oram and Make the Films Studio owner Chris Morsby. We appreciate your efforts very much!

Special thanks to the film sponsor TD Bank for their generous support!
